Prominent Railroad Man Dies
After an illness lasting eight days, Howard W. Wilson, prominent railroad conductor on the first district, was stricken by death at his home in this city Tuesday afternoon. Wilson was 33 years of age, and a man who was loved and respected by all his fellow railroaders. He had been a resident of Montpelier for the past nine years, and was married seven years ago to Melvina Johnson of Ovid.
Mr. Wilson took suddenly ill Tuesday morning of last week at Green River, while laying over prior to the return run to Montpelier. The illness of Wilson was pronounced by attending physicians to be flu-pneumonia and the attack was unusually severe.
Besides a widow and two children, aged 5 and 2 years respectively, Mr. Wilson is survived by a mother and two brothers residing in Ohio. He was a member of the Masonic lodge, and the B. R. T. and O. R. C.
Funeral services will be held in the Second ward chapel Friday morning, October 14, at 11 o’clock. Interment will be in the city cemetery.

Dies Following Short Illness
Howard Wilson of Montpelier died at his home last Thursday afternoon at 2:45 after a week’s illness with flu-pneumonia. He was taken sick last Tuesday morning in Green River.
Mr. Wilson came to Montpelier nine years ago from Virginia and was employed as a conductor on the First District of the Oregon Short Line. He was united in marriage to Miss Melvina Johnson of Ovid seven years ago.
The deceased was a member of the Masonic lodge, the Brotherhood of Railway Conductors; he was 33 years of age.
He is survived by his wife and two little girls, 5 and 2 years of age. His mother and two brothers reside at Akron, Ohio; he has one brother living in Virginia and a sister who resides in Allen, Oklahoma.
