Mrs. Maggie Cain Sayre, daughter of the late Billy and Mary Hersman Cain, was born March 28, 1872, departed this life January 2, 1948 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Selva Moore, of Akron, Ohio, aged 75 years, 9 months and 4 days, She was united in marriage to the late J. O. Sayre on September 20, 1893. To this union was born nine children. Her husband and two daughters, Ada and Pearl and one step-son, Owens, preceded her in death. She is survived by the following children; Mrs. Selva Moore, Mrs. Chester West and Mrs. Leo Donohew, all of Akron, Ohio; Mrs. Elsworth Moore of Pt. Pleasant; Mrs. Taylor Lewis of Pittsburgh, Pa.; Arnold Sayre of Thornsville, Ohio; Armor Sayre of Evans; also 18 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and four step-children: Mrs. Wilbur Sayre of Florida, V. A. Sayre of Addison, Ohio, Mrs. Vena Starcher of Akron and Mrs. Leo Kay of Ripley; 20 step-grandchildren, 28 great step-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard Cain of Hartsville, Ohio and Laban Cain of Leon; two step-sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Sayre of Leon and Mrs. Douglas Sayre of Indiana. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. I. J. McCollum at Creston UB Church and the body was laid to rest in the cemetery there with Eckhard Undertakers of Akron in charge. (Friday, 23 Jan 1948)
