His father, Amos was of New England birth and when 16, enlisted in the Revolutionary War. Moved to Rutland Twp, Meigs Co in 1806. Jeremiah married Sarah A Simpson on Feb 18, 1823 Pension Application: "Josiah Simpson of Gallia Co Ohio, now Rutland Township, Meigs Co Ohio, S4042, June 1818, age 50, enlisted 1780, Nottingham, Rockingham Co NH ... to 1784... nine children under his care, Nancy age 19, Nathan age 16, Betsy 14 crippled, Polly 12, Ruth 10, John 8, Lydia 7, Susan 5.
