Obituary: Gareth D. Thomas, 62

Gareth Dolan Thomas, 62 of Ripley passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston following a long illness.
He was born September 14, 1947, at Gay, a son of Virginia Anderson Thomas of Ripley and the late Blonda G. Thomas. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, worked as an X-Ray Technician and owned a printing business in Louisa, KY. He attended The Rock Full Gospel Church in Parkersburg.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 27 years, Vicki Cox Thomas; daughter Alisha Breanna Thomas at home; mother-in-law Ruth Trent of Salem; sisters-in-law Mary Sandy of Waverly, Darlene Cox Cohen (Aaron) of Lake Worth, FL, Connie Ross (Jim) of West Union, and Linda Hunt (Jake) of Winfield; brothers-in-law John Trent Jr. (Jackie), Randy Trent (Cathy), and Rodney Trent (Terry), all of Salem, and Joe Gum of New Milton. He is also survived by aunts Orthalee Whited, Evadeen Rhodes, Crystal Thomas, and Olive Robinson, along with many special cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a daughter Kiana DeShey Thomas and sister-in-law Sandee Gum.
Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm Saturday, May 22, at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley, with Pastors Mike Elder, Mark Leonard, and Gary Nangle officiating. Burial will follow in the Thomas Cemetery, Aplin Ridge in Gay. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 21, at the Funeral Home.
Donations in memory of Mr. Thomas may be made to the American Cancer Society.
