Lila Roberta “Bo” Casto, 88, of Evans, WV, passed away peacefully, January 9, 2015, in the Ravenswood Care Center, Ravenswood, following an extended illness.
She was born September 5, 1926, in Angerona, a daughter of the late James Russell and Clara Pearl (Sayre) Baker. Her husband, James W. Casto and her siblings, Hal Baker, Chester Baker, Olney Wayne Baker, Iris Louine Baker, Avis Ione Raines, and Anna Elizabeth Skeen also preceded her in death
She was a member of the last graduating class of Union High School, Cottageville, and later graduated from the Martz Beauty College in Huntington. In 1953, she and her late husband, James, returned home to Jackson County and founded the Casto Funeral Home in Evans.
Throughout the 1950’s, 60’s, and early 70’s, in addition to the funeral home, they engaged in many business endeavors, including, Casto Store and Service Station, Casto Monument Company, and Casto Farms.
Lila was a member and past matron of Cottageville Chapter #16, Order of Eastern Star, a member of the Sandyville Post #3488 VFW, Ladies Auxiliary, and a longstanding member of Jackson General Hospital Auxiliary. She most recently attended the Parchment Valley Baptist Church, Ripley.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Jim Hutton of Evans; son and daughter-in-law, James Casto, Jr. and Karen of Cottageville; grandchildren, Scott Hutton (Kim), Steven Hutton (Jennifer), and Megan Casto all of Evans, Morgan Casto of Cottageville, and J.W. Casto, III (Karmyn) of Ravenswood; great grandchildren, Cole Hutton, Abigail Hutton, William Casto, and Sophia Casto.
Service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at Casto Funeral Home Chapel, Evans, WV, with the Rev. Gerald B. Sayre officiating. Burial will follow in the Blaine Memorial Cemetery, Cottageville. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home with an Order of Eastern Star service beginning at 7 p.m.
