Robert Lee Hancock, 88, of Starke, Fla., formerly of Ravenswood, W.Va., departed this life Feb. 11, 2007, at Shands of Alachua General Hospital following an extended illness.
STARKE - Robert Lee Hancock, 88, of Starke, died Feb. 11, 2007, at Shands at Alachua General Hospital following an extended illness.
Mr. Hancock was born in Charleston, W.Va. on March 18, 1918 and was a retired pipe fitter. He worked for Kaiser Aluminium Maintenance Department. Mr. Hancock served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and served in the National Guard.
Mr. Hancock is survived by: his wife, Connie Lou Hancock of Starke; two sons, Don L. Hancock of Rippley W.Va., and Stephen L. Shilts of California; a brother, William Hancock of Sumter, S.C.; and a sister, Kay Frances of Michigan.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007, at 10 a.m. in the First Christian Church of Starke with Pastor Charles Soper and Pastor Greg Pusateri officiating. Graveside services will be Sunday, March 18, 2007, in the Jackson Memorial Gardens, Cottageville, W.Va. Local arrangements are provided by Jones funeral Home of Starke.
