Cause: No doctor - child fell in jar of water & drowned
Delores Jean Randolph, two year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hollie Randolph, was drowned at the family home on Mill Creek Thursday and the lifeless body of the child was discovered by the mother within a few minutes after the child was found to be missing. The child was found in a ten gallon jar in the yard where it had fallen head first into the vessel which contained only about six inches of water. She was the first drowning victim in the county this year. Delores Jean Randolph, daughter of Hollie and Opal Randolph, departed this life May 15, 1941, age 2 years and three months. She will be sadly missed by her father and mother, one brother, and aged grandmohter, and a step-grandmother and many other relatives. A little sister preceded her in death seven months ago. The funeral services were held at the Mt. Olive Church Friday afternoon with the Rev. Frank Hutton in charge and burial was in the church cemetery. (Jackson Herald, 23 May 1941)
