Dennis O. Bennett
Dennis Oren Bennett, 81, of Elkins, formerly of Frenchton, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004, at the home of his grandson, Paul Kelley of Elkins, where he lived for the past 1 1/2 years.
He was born May 7, 1922, in Braxton County, the son of the late Clyde Bennett and Georgia Anna Clowser Bennett Price.
On May 25, 1946, he married Madolyn Tanner Bennett, who preceded him in death on April 3, 2002. The Bennetts lived in Frenchton from 1959 until 2002.
Surviving are one daughter, Flora B. Bennett Kelley and husband, Garland, of Helvetia; one grandson, Paul Kelley of Elkins; one granddaughter, Becky Kelley Parsons and husband, Jonn, of Buckhannon; one great-granddaughter, Hannah Jayd Parsons of Buckhannon; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Walter Bennett; and two sisters, Mary Kennedy and Pearl Parsons.
Mr. Bennett worked for Ed Arey and Sons Railyard in Frenchton and then retired from the West Virginia Division of Highways on Brushyfork near Buckhannon.
He was a veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the 99th Infantry Division and served in Germany.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Tomblyn Whitecarver Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in Beechtown Cemetery at Frenchton. The Tomblyn Whitescarver Funeral Chapel of Buckhannon is in charge of arrangements for Dennis Oren Bennett.
