Mr. Lovell Theodore Parsons of Cross Lanes, born June 5, 1924, went home to be with the Lord Nov. 5, 2004, at home.
Lovell is a recent member of New Hope Baptist Church, former member of Goff Mountain Freewill Baptist Church and retired from American Viscose with 36 years of service.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Marie Parsons; sisters, Macil Hinzman and Bessie Randolph; and great-grandson, Charles Joseph Parsons.
Lovell is survived by sons, Lovell E. ?Butch? Parsons of West Columbia, Charles Parsons of Red House, W.Va., and Lindsay Parsons of Cross Lanes; daughter, Nancy Booth of Bancroft, W.Va.; 13 grandchildren, one of whom, Anna Pennington of Sissonville, he raised; 27 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other dear family and friends.
He was lovingly cared for by his grandson, Michael Parsons, for the past six years, who called his Papaw his ?best friend?, Lindsay, Vivian, Alisha, Anna, Bobbie, Mary, cousin, Mike Parsons, Joyce, and Shirley all helped to care for him in his last days. He would have liked to say ?thank you? to them and to the hospice nurses, Becky, Connie, and Angie. Thank you to Rev. Kenny Carter and wife, Brenda, for their love and prayers, too.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 8, 2004, at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ken Carter officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 7, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in his name be made to Kanawha Hospice, 1143 Dunbar Ave., Dunbar, WV 25064.
