Charles W. Higginbotham, 94, of Dunbar, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, at Thomas Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
He was a heavy equipment mechanic for Walker Machinery Co., and was formerly employed by West Virginia Tractor Co., and Glenbrook Coal Co., where he was voted a No. 1 mechanic.
He had been a Dunbar resident for 60 years and enjoyed his vegetable farm on Pleasant Ridge, Putnam County. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona, after 58 years of marriage.
Surviving are his son, Charles E. Higginbotham of Gaithersburg, Md., daughter, Viola "Vi" Nichols of Nitro; brother, Harold Higginbotham of Dunbar; sisters, Clara Reedy of Albany, Ohio, Mildred Jeffers of Dexter, Ohio, and Naomi Glassburn of Bidwell, Ohio; grandchildren, Marnie Higginbotham of York, Pa., and Terri Lindstrom of Austin, Texas.
Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with Pastor John A. Mason officiating. Burial will be in Buffalo Memorial Park.
Friends may call at Keller Funeral Home from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday.
